In this Month‟s News: "The Fox on the Fairway" opens Our upcoming 35th season, maybe…CTC is changingHelp us build the future Garage Sale to Benefit CTCBend Theatre for Young People Summer Conservatory

Ken Ludwig’s hilarious farce "The Fox on The Fairway" opens June 14. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it‟ a charmingly madcap adventure about love, life, and man‟ eternal love affair with…olf. Join director Jane Gayer and her terrific cast (Daniel Leifer, A. Lynn Jesus, Fred Giacomini, Anna Johnson, Russell Seaton and Julie Gray Nash) for the final show of our 34th season! Tickets can be purchased online from our website www.cascadestheatrical.org , or by calling the box office at 541.389.0803. Remember, this is your last chance to use your 2012-13 Season Flex Pass. You will learn below how you can help to be sure it isn‟ the last play you see at CTC.

Announcing our 35th Season, maybe: The play selection committee (Joe Sershen, Brad Ruder, Lana Shane, Don Delach, Kathryn Hearon, Martha Samco and Lilli Ann Linford-Foreman) has chosen 6 terrific, entertaining shows that we believe will appeal to a broad audience. They are: Dixie Swim Club by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope & Jamie Wooten, Ken Ludwig‟ The Game’s Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays, Angel Street (Gaslight) by Patrick Hamilton, Funny Money by Ray Cooney, I Remember You by Bernard Slade and Communicating Doors by Alan Ayckbourn. We were hoping to begin season flex pass sales on July 1st, as we have for many years. But we can’t start those ticket sales yet, and here‟ where you come in…

CTC is changing; it will take YOU to help us determine its future. We have reached a point where the future of CTC, the organization, is in serious jeopardy. Reduced income (fewer grants, sponsorships & advertisers and lower attendance) and looming debt have forced us to take the very difficult step of laying off our two remaining employees. For the first time in more than 13 years, CTC has no paid staff. The person answering your calls in the Box Office will be a volunteer. The day-to-day administration of the theatre is being done by volunteers, including the 3 members of the Board of Governors. This means, at least in the short run, that Box Office and lobby hours will be reduced.

It also means that we cannot begin to plan for the 35th season until we have an infusion of cash as well as serious commitments from those volunteers who will take the theatre forward into 2013-14 and beyond.

A number of you have already responded to our most recent requests for additional financial support. Thank you to the Silver Foxes, and to our other recent donors. If you would

like to make a donation, or renew your membership at this time, you may do so by credit card over the phone, or in person. Please call for current Box Office Hours (541.389.0803).

CTC Membership Meeting Cancelled: Some of you are aware that a membership meeting was scheduled for the purpose of voting on the sale of the building. That vote will no longer be taking place, as the potential buyers have withdrawn their offer. The future of CTC hangs in the balance. We cannot go forward with a 35th season, indeed, we may not be able to pay the building carrying costs past June 30 without an immediate loan or other infusion of cash.

And it’s not just a question of money. If we are to save the theatre, volunteers must step up to participate in the governance of the organization, preparation of the season, mounting of the productions, fundraising, publicity….there is much to do!

Mark your calendars!!! Planning for CTC’s Future : June 25th There will be a volunteer summit at the Greenwood Playhouse at 5:30pm on Tuesday, June 25. At this meeting we will discuss and identify ideas, plans, options and volunteers for going forward into 2013-14. Please, if CTC is important to you, if you can help the theatre overcome our current challenges with your ideas, talents or time, come to this meeting! Let us know you‟e coming by sending an email to CTCinfo@cascadestheatrical.org with „onference‟in the subject line.

And here‟ another way you can help:

NOT Your Average Yard Sale: A note from volunteers Kathy Houlihan and Juliah Rae: CTC has provided all of us with wonderful times at the theatre; laughter, tears, the opportunity to „lay‟onstage and backstage. Really good memories. All of us who value CTC want to have more of them. CTC needs our help and to that end we‟e having a yard sale and all of the proceeds will go to the theater. We are looking for quality donations for this worthwhile fundraiser. The sale will take place on June 28th and 29th at Kathy Houlihan’s home in NW Crossing – 2632 NW Ordway. We need to receive all donations by June 26th. You can drop your items off at Kathy‟. To make arrangements, her phone number is 541-598-4617. Or, if it's more convenient for you, you may drop off small items at Juliah Rae‟ office on the 3rd and Revere. Juliah‟ cell is 541-408-0398 The 28th is the Northwest Crossing Hullabaloo and the 29th is the opening of their farmer‟ market, so we're hoping for a large turnout. Make some room in your house, bring us those donations, and then join us at the sale …and shop!!!!!

If we are able to keep our doors open through the summer, the Bend Theatre for Young People Summer Conservatory will be back again this year with educator and CTC co-founder Gary Bowne in the director‟ chair. Designed for students in grades 4-12, the class runs July 1-26, culminating in a public performance. For more information, contact Gary at 541.419.1935 or visit the BTYP website at bendtheatre.org.
